Gawd, have been really bad about submitting stuff. Anywho. Dark elf. Done in Painter IX despite its attempts to ruin everything by crashing repeatedly and corrupting files. Took some... iunno, bazillion+ hours. Give or take. Still clueless whether it looks entirely right or not, I ended up having two versions calibrated separately for both of my monitors, so let me know if its too light or too dark, please?
Nice, I really like her boots and the way you coloured it. The picture is quite dark, but I don't think it's too dark since I guess you wanted that effect, right? With that ball of light and all... I think the bottom part of the hair looks well shaded, but the upper part, around her face, looks flat. Some darker strands here and there would do the job. I also think maby those other swirling lights should give some extra secondary light. Especially from the one near her left foot, since it's so close it could give off some really interesting light. However, nice work ^^
What settings do you use in Painter? I've looked at this now on 2 different monitors and it looks much darker on one of them but the effect is still nice on both. I really love the way you shaded the corset as well.
Lets see... I did the lines with the scratchboard tool. I then blocked out some basic colors with the flat color pen or whichever that is. Then I further worked the colors, giving shades and highlights with a round oil brush (camel hair I think). After that I used the smudge tool (perhaps a little too much) because I am a sucker for smoothness. The BG was done with... chalk tool, more oils, and some airbrush splattery stuff for the white dots to get that lovely glow. Took forever. Thanks for looking, and for the compliments, its really appreciated, I was surprised I got so small a reaction on this one. ::is sad::
It occurs to me I never did send you that picture I said I would o_o.... I should go do that now, me thinks.
